Mindset book review summary. How individuals overcome barriers to success?

Updated: Nov 1, 2024

Summary

Mindset was analytical text from a psychological perspective which highlighted how individuals internalized both success and failure of the patterns created from one of the two mindsets. Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D says there are two mindsets, the fixed mindset and the growth mindset. The fixed mindset generates excuses for many of their inaccuracies. And the growth mindset person has more accuracies of positive outcomes because they tend to take accountability for their success or failures.

The book Mindset was an excellent source to build awareness to how people react and respond to experiences. I was able to grasp how ones success is about learning from the experience and understanding of the situations and circumstances. Therefore, I have learned that the growth mindset values experiences which weight out obstacles to push forward to succeed. This allows you to overcome the barriers to success.

The fixed mindset I found is only interested in living in the now. Also, people with a fixed mindset are only interested in their positives, however they show no understanding to acknowledge their negative traits and outcome. The fixed mindset will not be motivated by overcoming failure for a story of resiliency. Mindset text discusses how Brain waves tell a story how in Columbia people visited a brain wave lab. The brain-wave lab asked hard questions and got feedback to determine the mindset of the person which also shows them to be interested and attentive. This was true to individual's perceptions in science. People with fixed mindsets were only interested when the feedback reflected good on their ability. According to the research, brain waves showed fixed mindset persons paying close attention when they were told whether their answers were right or wrong.
